Hi Fred,
Out of 5 breeding pairs I have 2 pairs of Kakariki with 1 baby each. For some reason they laid small batches and only hatched 1.
Out of 7 pairs of King quails 2 pairs have hatched out half a dozen chicks each.
2 baby black Headed Normal Gouldians fledged over the weekend
Out of 6 pairs of Yellowbacked Gouldians 2 pairs have young, not sure how many as I'm afriad they'll desert the nest if I peek.
Out of 2 pairs of Greencheeks 1 pair is sitting on eggs, this is the first time they've shown signs of wanting to breed in the 2 years I've had the breeding pair.
Out of 8 pairs of red headed Normal Goudians I still havn't seen anything yet.
Out of 3.5 pairs of Tri Colour Parrot Finches, there is no activity yet.
How are yours going?

Hi Ed thats early for the Gouldians to be breeding I must say its good though I am happy for you your Green Cheeks are starting to do somthing.. lets hope they do well for you. Tri parrot finches are very nice finches I think the nights might be alittle cool for them yet I have got finches building nests all over the place I have just finished putting tea tree in the cages for the finches to breed also I replace the tea tree evry 2 years with my parrots I have only two pairs breeding so far they are a pair of normal scarlets sitting 4 eggs and a pair of pink bourkes with 2 chicks they look to be pink also so the season is off to a good start I would say my Regents will be next to go to nest as the hen in in the log alot. no eggs as yet though oh and my silver king quail are sitting 8 eggs they are due to hatch any day now

Hi Fred,
With Greencheeks...do both the hen and Cock incubate the eggs at the same time?
Both birds have dissapeared into the nest box, sometimes I see them outside at the same time in the mornings.
They seem to do everything together, is this normal greencheek behaviour?

Hi Ed
Only the hen will incubate the eggs I would say the cock bird would be feeding her and just staying with her I would say its normal behavior as Green cheeks do roost in a nest box or log it night Its all part of the green cheek pair being bonded together
