I was also told that some birds can be imported into Australia with a large amount of red tape and very strict guidelines in-place. Also when importing birds the birds have to spend 3 months in Quarantine at the importers cost. That could amount to thousands of dollars and if the bird or birds that you are importing look sick in anyway you have no chance of getting then released from Quarantine.
